La la la
We're already 12 days into the new year and I'll only just slowly coming back into the land of the internet living. It's so bad that today is the 12th and I actually forgot my camera! How terrible is that? It's the first time I've forgotten in over a year, and I haven't really decided what I'm going to do about it. Maybe I'll get really creative once I get home. Or maybe I won't do 12 of 12 this month - but that makes me pretty sad to break my streak. So we'll see. Maybe I'll take 12 adorable pictures of Nimbus. :)
So I've been back reading my flist, although the sheer amount of time that I missed means it doesn't actually go far enough back - hopefully I won't miss anything important. I'm weirdly obsessive about this stuff, even though I try not to be. (I had to forcibly stop myself from trying to back-read two weeks of Twitter. I mean, COME ON!) So if you get belated comments on an entry you wrote a few weeks ago, this is why.
I'm currently nursing (yet another) cold, this one mainly a sore throat and endless sniffle. It was not helped by the fact that we karaoked last night for three hours. At the end I could barely speak, and you can totally still hear it in my voice today. Ah well, to sacrifice for karaoke is good!
In holiday news, everything was pretty much great, although as usual far too short. I won't even bother with detail, but it was the normal family break, which was exactly what I needed. My brother left this past weekend, which was a real wrench. One of these days it's going to get so bad that I'll up and move to the same city as him or something. But Atlanta? Urgh. It totally sucks to live so far away though - two times a year is just insane and not even close to being enough time together.
We did some time in London too, including what turned out to be a really successful New Years party, despite all my fears that no one would come and it would be a disaster. I hate how people are about NYE - it's like their holding out for better options and don't want to decide until the last minute. Anyway, much booze was drunk and people were introduced and there was laughter. Oh and guitar hero world tour! I got the full band set (with drums!!) for Christmas. (The ridiculousness of getting what is essentially a TOY as a Christmas present from my parents when I am almost 30 is not lost on me, but oh well, I totally squealed like a kid as soon as I saw the box.) So we played that on NYE and then pretty much every day my brother was here after that. And the last night he was in town we invited a few of the people he knows best over and had a Guitar Hero party, which was AWESOME. I am so addicted. Seriously, it's ridiculous. Too bad none of my housemates (except Claire) seem too excited about it. There are six of us! More then enough for a band just on our own. Ah well. Oh, and in case you were wondering, Wii games (not instruments, whew!) are regioned. My parents bought the game on base, but Claire's Wii is European. They are not comparable. A new disc was necessary. I cannot say enough words about how stupid regioning things is.
Um what else? Work is bad at the moment, for reasons I do not care to go into. For one thing I'm trying to make a decision about something that I don't have enough information on, and it's stressing me out. And in general work contentment, my boss and I are just really not very compatible, a fact he refuses to understand. He just thinks exactly the opposite of me on so many things, and I'm getting worse at hiding my frustration. But, you know, I'm not the one in charge, so what can I do? People keep telling me to look for a new job, but IDK. I am very on the fence.
Surely that's enough of a real update? Next up is my plan to do end of year memes and actually (GASP) update my book list from last year and close it off. I have a spreadsheet with the info, I just haven't transferred it to LJ since something like OCTOBER! Probably Nano's fault, to be honest. As so many many things are! :)
