12 of 12 : October 2008

As per the usual, I completely forgot about 12 of 12. I've been meaning to start doing it, and every time I seem to remember too late. Luckily, despite it being almost 8PM by the time I remembered, I already had some pics taken, since our house warming party wrapped up around 5:30AM. (Success!!) Also, that night I went out with Elizabeth ([livejournal.com profile] outforawalk) and friends (visiters to London) so I actually still had some things to take photos of. Thus, my first actual 12 of 12, albeit with a large middle of the day gap. (Although honestly, I slept until about 1, so that's a bunch of time right there!)

So um, rules - you post 12 pics of your day, and then link back to Chad, who started it all!

1) ALL PHOTOS MUST BE TAKEN ON THE 12TH OF EACH MONTH.

2) After you post your pictures onto a webpage of your choice (Livejournal, typepad, MySpace, Flickr, etc...) please post the TIME, LOCATION, and A SMALL COMMENT on the pic.

2:10 AM - Our Awesome new house, N2
Karaoke on the big screen! I'm part of an online karaoke club (shut up) so that's what we were using. This is our new TV (well, Seb's new TV) that he has hooked up to the laptop. (When I told my mom this she just said "of course".)

My fabulous new housemates - Rach ([livejournal.com profile] basilm) and Seb ([livejournal.com profile] iamseb) (tipsy or full out drunk? you decide) The hat was brought out because Seb was doing Frank Sinatra; and then Rach stole it, as she is wont to do.

Karaoke star Rachel! I adore this picture. There are no lyrics because this is a dance break. And she is (of course) dancing.

Another karaoke pic: our friend James

[Skip forward in time about 18.5 hours! During which I karaoke more, sleep in, clean up party stuff, go shopping in central London, then get back on the tube. None of which there are pictures of!]

Beer!

The new JQ book! Rach and I have been searching for this all week. It's on the freaking NYT bestseller list, and yet not a single London bookstore seemed to have it. Very annoying. Especially since I then had to read it that night so that Rach could take it on the plane the next day.

Elizabeth ([livejournal.com profile] outforawalk) and I. Yay for meeting GGMM/DF people in real life! More of you should come visit London because it's awesome! (Oh yeah, and so am I, obviously.) You can also see my new short haircut in this picture.

Kitten food! We're getting ready for the kitten that we are in the process of adopting. YAY!

11:55 PM - Our Awesome new house, N2
This is the new oven that was delivered on Monday. It's so shiny and new it seems a shame to use it. Also, I keep thinking of how when we move out we're gonna have to make it look like new. Because I am a dork like that.

Putting the recycling out - full from the party of course.

My other purchases from the day: goggles and a swim cap so I can now swim in the pool of the gym Rach and I joined last week. (Did I not tell you guys that? I think I forgot. I swam laps, but I realised almost immediately that if i was going to do it regularly I would need these. So voila!)
12.

Not the most illustrious start, but at least I managed to do it, which is more than I can say for the past few months! Here's hoping next time I remember in the AM...

Bonus points to whoever can identify the two karaoke songs that you can see from the lyrics!

Great 12 for your first ...and forgetting till the end of the day on top of that. (done that myself more than once). London (Great Britain in general) has always looked like a great place to "hang". I plan to get there some day before I die. Save me a pint or two of your best bitter.

Now you have your first one in you got to keep it going.

Oh... love the new dew. Of course I have nothing to compare it to since I never saw the old style... :)

OOOPS... I didn't leave my name. I go by Hibe.

Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked the pics...I just have missed so many times before that once I realised at 9PM that I already had a few, I just went for it...

London is an awesome place to hang out! I think everyone should visit here at least once, and live here if possible. :)

Haaa. I love that your friend is doing karaoke to "Fairytale of New York".

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Points! Yeah, he was pretty deaf to any cries of "but it's a CHRISTMAS SONG!"

[identity profile] iamseb.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Full out drunk, for the first time in quite a while :)

I'm going to have to go with Ironic, and Fairy Tale of New York. But I was there (well, mostly!) so probably I don't deserve the bonus points. I will claim bonus points for naming the house though.

I'm rather peeved, however, that Rach looks better in my hat than I do. Something must be done.

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
Of course you don't get points when you were actually there while they were sung. Silly boy. I suppose I can give you house points though. (Hmmm...house points or points for naming the house? Not quite the same thing.)

She does look good in the hat, huh? As Lefke said, those things are likely to happen.

Love the new haircut!

And I love this meme! If I could think that far ahead, I would do it, but I can barely make lesson plans that far ahead, let alone remember to do a meme.

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I seriously have been meaning to do it for like 4 months. It's been on my calendar and everything. So we'll see how that goes next time!

(Anonymous) 2008-10-14 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to say "Yay, another London person!", and then I saw your Shiny user pic, and was going to add another "Yay, a Browncoat!". And then Seb had his Capt'n Tight Pants icon, and that earns another "Yay!".

Much to yay about here. and welcome to 12 of 12! I've just moved to London for work, but have been doing 12 of 12 for over 2 years now, and it's still as awesome as when I started it.

Oh and a yay for the awesome new house and soon-to-be adopted kitten. Is it going to have a suitably geeky name? ;-)

Helen (Dogeared, 12er)

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for popping by. I'm hoping to be doing it regularly too; we'll see how well I manage to keep up.

Funny you should ask about kitten names - http://jenepel.livejournal.com/58215.html - all suitably geeky!

Welcome to the 12 of 12 party! It's great to have another UK based 12'er :)

Thanks! I'm having fun looking at everyone else's as well...

See? This is me reading your blog. :P

I have no idea why, but I always thought Seb was a girl. I don't know. I assume it's short for Sebastian, which makes total sense, but for some reason, I was picturing Seb and Rach as two girls! I'm insane.

You and Elizabeth look great! I absolutely love your new short haircut. And um, I will be coming to London at some point. Perhaps next summer if I don't go back to Israel (which would be in the winter, but I'd need to save my vacation days).

I don't know the songs. I wouldn't mind doing karaoke, except for the fact that I couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle.

I love the photoblog (that one meme over the summer, the day-in-the-life was so much fun) but I always forget to do the 12-of-12 as well.

[identity profile] adinarj.livejournal.com 2008-10-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
When I do this, I'm so going to have to put the timestamp on the pictures otherwise I will forget what time it is taken.

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2008-10-16 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I love that you came back and looked at it.

I'm loving the short hair too. I always like me better with it, but the world in general doesn't seem to agree.

I'm not a good singer either, but I adore karaoke. I won't do it in a bar though - only at home or the box (Japanese) kind with friends.

Doesn't your camera do a timestamp automatically? I just looked at the file info to get mine.

I found this somehow when I was doing day in the life. So that just tells you how long it's been that I was meaning to do it.

COME TO LONDON YES! :)

What a fun day! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Are the songs, "Square Rooms" and "Fairy Tale of New York"???

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2008-10-16 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

You got one - fairytale is right. The other one is actually Alanis's "Ironic" which we can't seem to sing without various people shouting things about how the song isn't actually ironic at all...
