I like this - I've been tracking the books I read this year, as it's one of my NaNo Big, Fun, Scary goals (trying to read 2 per week). So far I think I've read 10-11 [doh].

In case these are useful - www.goodreads.com, where you can log the books you have read/are reading/will read, and rate them, and www.bookmooch.com, where you can get rid of books you no longer want, and swap them for points (which you then use to mooch books from other people).

Oh bookmooch is awesome! I know several people who use it but I haven't yet signed up. I should really do that.

As for Goodreads, I'm in the process of trying to decide between several sites like that. The others I know are Librarythings and Shelfari. I want to use one, I just don't know which is best and I haven't had time to properly look into it.

Waaaaaaait a sec... how can 12 out of 100 books equal 8%? I just checked here to borrow the stats idea for me, and noticed that lol.

Gah! I guess I need to have a look at the code; I probably screwed up the last time I edited it.

It's still a great idea, I've adopted it for my reading, it's spurred me on now, I have someone to compare myself to! So thanks for that ;-)

Oh, and Quantum of Solace is £7 on 2 disc DVD in Tesco's, offer ends Wed 25th!

It would be better if I didn't forget to update it all the time! I have it on a google doc spreadsheet, and then every so often I transfer stuff over

You're not putting it on your blog though are you? I just looked and didn't see it. You don't really do anything other than pictures there, right?

I have a photo Blog and a personal Blog - I'll send the URL to the personal one over in an email (just done). The book one's in my personal one.

Oh and to answer your question on my photoBlog - it was a giant cookie-shaped cake. I made a packet mix chocolate cake, but only had 20cm tins (which is what every cookbook says to use). The mix said 18cm tins - so the mix spread a little thinner and flatter. And I had to beat the mixture by hand, not with a fork. And they didn't say how to make icing. In short, because I added the icing sugar to water (not the other way around), I got the quantities wrong, and had no icing on top bar froth, and hardly anything between the cake halves. My poor, sad cake.

Heh, we're on the same numbe rof books now, but you seem to have more pages through reading longer books (most of mine are in the 300 pages mark). But you pushed me to read more, as I had something to aim for!

I think I'm on about 53 now (and working on the 3 I mentioned last night), and a friend replied to my latest update with speedupspeedupspeedup lol. So here's one I'm paying forward to you! ;-)

Yeah I know - I've been really slack this year. Well not slack exactly, since I'm not so much consciously trying as just writing down what I read, but you know what I mean! I think I'll pick up now that I have a longer commute though. Although Nano...

I saw you over at the Glee friending meme. You're not slacking. You're doing better than I am this year. I read tons more last year then this year so far. Don't you love Julia Quinn?

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2009-10-22 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I adore Julia Quinn! My flatmate and I found her a year ago and since then we've been in the process of collecting every one of her books (done) and converting everyone we know to reading them all. We've been like a two person JQ lending library. :) Have you read the newest one - what happened in London?

Since you found me at the friending meme, wanna be friends? Liking JQ & Glee is enough proof for me!

[identity profile] smashedpeaches.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Sure friends would be great.
I just found Julia Quinn last year. I had all Julie Garwood's book and I was looking for something new. Julia Quinn was recommened if you like Julie Garwood's, so I checked them out. Have you read any Garwood?
Yea I actually didn't like What happened in London the best. It was just ok for me. I love Romancing Mister Bridgerton! Have you got to the Bridgerton books yet?

[identity profile] jenepel.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Romancing Mr Bridgerton is my all time favourite - second is probably the Viscount who loved me. I was mostly excited about WHIL because it was a companion to Miranda Cheever and I really loved that one.

I've never read Julie Garwood. I guess I'll have to look her up. JQ is kind of my first foray into romance - I've really only read a few other than her.

Same her on Romancing Mr Bridgerton and Viscount Who Loved Me.
Yea Garwood is great. She has some Regency like Quinn and then she has some like Scottish ones. The Secret is the all time best. I got my friend obsessed with that book. You should really try it first. Awesome characters.
I've been reading romance for a while but mostly Julie Garwood. I've just broken out to other authors since last year.
I found a great used bookstore so I don't feel so bad buying them to test out new authors cause the books are so cheap.
