It's 2AM.  What am I doing?  I'm watching Never Mind the Buzzcocks on YouTube.  What should I be doing?  I don't know - one of the many millions of things I need to do before Cat and Jared get here Thursday and my life kicks into overdrive.  Oh Christmas, I do love you, but you make life insane.  Oh yes, I suppose (since I have to work tomorrow at 8:30) that technically what I should be doing is sleeping.  But I just got my computer back today, so actual work or sleep is difficult as I find it hard to tear myself away.  I've pretty much been on since I got home, including a two hour conversation with Trev.  (Never mind that he'll be here in 6 days.  I love Skype.)

Despite being computerless I had a great weekend.  I went to see The Golden Compass, which I was pleasantly surprised at.  I was mistrustful of it, and I think that helped me not to be disappointed.  Yes, they switched things around a bit, and yes they cut off the ending, but both of those choices made sense to me in the overall view of the film.  Okay, and yes they downplayed the church = evil thing, but come on - this movie was made for a country that protested Harry Potter.  Have you read all three books?  I was incredulous it was even being made.  (Random aside, many years ago in the beginning of Harry Potter, my little cousin told my brother and I that those books were "of the devil".  And she was totally serious.  For some reason my bro and I found this hilarious - we pretty much never stopped quoting it from then on.)

We did a Nanowrimo reunion on Sat night.  (Okay, it's only been a week and a half - we missed each other!  Shut up.)  There are five of us who got pretty close (hi [profile] teaatsix!  hi [profile] basilm!) and so we've been talking on facebook.  We went to the other side of town for a change (stupid two hour journey for me), but I do have to admit it was a nice pub.  It was Seb's local - his suggestion.  The coolest thing was that we played games, which I love.  We did Scrabble and Monopoly.  There's not much that is funner to me then sitting somewhere, ignoring the rest of the world and playing a game.  It could only have gotten better if we played cards instead.  (But Cat and Jared are coming for Christmas, so I'm about to get my card playing fix.  YAY!)

Also this weekend?  Christmas party at the Ambassador's house.  Seriously.  How cool am I?  I'm really glad I got to go actually, especially since I am soon to no longer be working there.  The house is gorgeous.  I can't believe they live there for real.  And all the decorations were up and everything; very fancy.  Plus they had face-painting and balloon animals for the kids, and tons of great food.  Good stuff.

And (less exciting) I cleaned my room and did laundry.  Probably accomplished in part due to the aforementioned no computer situation.  It does help me to be a little more productive not to have it as an option.  (Witness right now.)  Of course, in lieu of my computer I just read, so I got through two books while it was getting fixed instead.  Whoops.  Oh, and I did a tiny amount of Christmas shopping tonight on the way to get my computer.  Basically I used the walk from work to the Apple store (which takes me right through Oxford st) to shop during.  I got a few things, nothing huge but enough to at least feel like I'm no longer empty handed.  I think it's going to be a casual Christmas, really more focused on the fact that we are all getting to hang out in the same country.  So that's pretty cool.  I'm not so worried about presents.  (On the other hand - the entire series of GG would be really nice!)

Hmmm..what else?  Have I mentioned how much I HEART Never Mind the Buzzcocks?  It is the win.  I don't think I laugh at anything else quite as much as I do during that show.  (Not so much during the Mark Lamar years, but now that Simon is on.)  Also, Ryan Jarman from the Cribs came back and was a guest again a few weeks ago.  BEST GUEST EVER.  I don't even know why, but he has me in fits every time he opens his mouth.  At least my brother agrees with me on this point.

Oh yes, and MY BROTHER GETS HERE IN SIX DAYS!  Sorry for all the caps but it merits them.

Here's the plan:
Mon night (heh - now) - make bed, pack up presents, sleep
Tues - work, meet with new boss, pack for parents house, clear side floor
Wed - work, spend night with [profile] teaatsix (nearer airport)
Thur - pick up C&J at airport, half day work
Fri - work party (last one)
Sat - Choral service at Albert Hall
Sun - TREVOR ARRIVES!, Terracotta Warriers exhibit, go to my parents (evening)
Mon - Christmas Eve (start of week off)
