I have a half-written post with reactions from all 6 Harry Potter movies (yeah...I know) that I will hopefully post tonight. (In general I was happy with HP6 but it had some ~very serious~ plot/canon issues.) But for now, grabbed from several people on my flist, MEME!

Which American accent do you have?

Neutral

You're not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

I think that's interesting, although not surprising. It just underscores my belief that I have the most neutral normal US accent you could have - worn down from growing up over here and meeting people from all over the US. I am now tempted to mail it to my bro and see if he gets the same result.

Also, I am having dinner tonight with my best friend from MIDDLE SCHOOL and her husband, who are visiting London this week. I have not seen this girl in over ten years, although we have kept vaguely in touch. We shall see.

It's super late, and I'm not yet caught up on my sleep from my trip, but if I don't do this now I may never do it, so I've decided to just suck it up and post my 12 of 12. Claire is over, so she's writing for NanoJuMo, thus we can sit here and work together. Helen just left - we're on day two of our Harry Potter movie marathon. They met me at Awesome Manor once I got home from the airport last night, and we did 1 & 2. Then tonight it was 3 & 4, and tomorrow we'll watch 5 just before going off to see 6 at the cinema! Yay! Of course if the UK cinemas were doing midnight showings I would be in the 6th film RIGHT NOW, but I'm trying not to dwell on that.

Right. So my 12 this month is of the EXIT music festival in Serbia (http://eng.exitfest.org/) which I was at from Thurs-Mon this past weekend. I had tons of pictures, although to be honest a lot of them were pretty bad since the music takes place mostly at night and my camera didn't cope too well. It makes for an interesting timeline for the 12 though, as you can see from the timestamps.

Post 12 pics of your day, and then link back to Chad, who started it all!

1) ALL PHOTOS MUST BE TAKEN ON THE 12TH OF EACH MONTH.

2) After you post your pictures onto a webpage of your choice (Livejournal, typepad, MySpace, Flickr, etc...) please post the TIME, LOCATION, and A SMALL COMMENT on the pic.

I am just now noticing that Rach features very heavily in these pictures! )

And DONE! Now for bed. Harry Potter tomorrow - yay!!

Whoo-hoo! Packed and ready to go! We leave for Serbia in one hour. I'm completely exhausted but oh so excited! :)

I get back on Monday night, just in time to watch lots of lots of Harry Potter movies in readiness for the opening on Wed.

See you on the other side...

Trying to organise for Harry Potter is eating my brain. It's like, there is NO organisation to be had. This is what's happening:

1. Premiere is tomorrow night in Leicester square but of course we need to be there super early, which doesn't really work when some of us have jobs. So that problem has been there for a while but isn't any closer to solution. And now my boss wants me to go to the Embassy tomorrow afternoon, which may or may not help me out, I can't decide. I may end up queueing for hours. Blech.

2. Supposedly it wasn't showing at the IMAX (which I checked decades ago) until the 29th because of some sort of mix-up with Terminator and double booking and the moved HP premiere date from November. And yet...now it's showing there, as Claire pointed out today. But (of course) since IMAX showings sell out in like, seconds, it's full for a solid week and a half. So that will still have to wait a few weeks. Which is okay but not great.

3. Midnight showings (This is the one making me pull my hair out.) THERE ARE NO FRAKKING MIDNIGHT SHOWINGS. SERIOUSLY LONDON WTF?!? We thought for a while they hadn't posted them, but now that we've called some theatres it appears that is not the case. Oh no. They just aren't doing them. For Harry Potter 6. I repeat, WTF? So yeah, pretty much no way to make this any kind of "event" - we're just gonna have to wait until the next day after work and go to the movies.

I accept this isn't an exciting entry. But I needed to vent. :)

I don't have the time (or the inclination I think) to write a real response to it now.  But I just have to say that I can't believe it's actually over.  I have read every bit of the Harry Potter story - I know what happens, who dies, who survives, who was good and who was evil and who was a little in between.  I just...can't believe it.  I'm happy with it, but it's such a weird feeling.  And I'm sad.  Of course I can reread, and I plan to, but it's never going to be quite the same as when I opened the last book yesterday and started.  I had the busiest, craziest weekend, and every little spare moment was filled with me sandwiching in a little more HP.  I was so determined not to be spoiled at all that I had to  finish it by Monday when I would go to work, see newspapers, be on the internet, etc.  I was too scared that something would be out.  And I am looking forward to rereading it at my leisure and really taking it in.  I'm going to do HBP Mon/Tues and then take DH on the plane Wed.  And I'm going to try and stay away from any fanfic for at least a month.  Past experience has taught me that reading fanfic right after I finished the book (which is the compulsion since you need MORE MORE) means that canon and fanfic get confused in my mind, which is unacceptable.  ANYWAY, that's it.  Harry's story is over - unless, I guess, JKR relents on that front.  But I kind of hope she won't.  I would be interested to read something else from her.

Oliver's party was really fun too.  Good weekend.  :)
