I should be going to bed instead of posting this, but if I don't do it now I never will, so there. Sleep can wait.

The women's Semis were today, with both Williams sisters playing and making it through. Another Williams v Williams final. And tomorrow, Murray v Roddick! Eek. (That's Murray's last score in the title btw - straight sets to beat Ferrero.)

So this weekend Phil and I did something I've been saying I would do for years, which is tent in the Wimbledon queue. It was, in a word, AWESOME. Seriously, I would recommend it to anyone. (Although it would probably help if you like tennis!)

We queued the next morning for 4 and a half hours. Literally. )

So how about some pictures? )

Busy few weeks ahead. Tomorrow I'm finally (YAY!!!) going to see Sunshine Cleaning, and this weekend is both the 4th of July and the Pride parade and celebrations. Plus, my brother's girlfriend is in town (who I have never met) so we're planning on having dinner. Should be interesting. Then Tues is the HP premiere in Leicester Sq (OMG!!!SQUEEEEE!!!!) and on Thurs we leave for Serbia for EXIT. And as soon as I get back it's the midnight showing for HP - the two days before that we're planning a huge movie marathon of the first five. Then my best friend from middle school (who I haven't seen in close to 10 years) is in town with her husband and we're getting together. Then it's London Comic-con and my boss is away that week so I'm in charge of the office. And then...

Oh man I have to stop. That paragraph is out of control and not just a little bit scary. And I really need to fit a visit to my parents in there. Hmmm.

So yeah, summer = extreme busyness. But fun. Always fun.

Well the icon isn't exactly appropriate since they are (mostly) having great weather this year, but when else will I have a perfect time to use it?! Anyway, I'm sitting here watching Wimbledon, perfectly happy. I just watched a fantastic match between Jankovic (Serbia) and Wosniacki (Danish). W is SO young; she's only 17! J is the world number two, but she actually had a bit of a battle for it. Anyways, good match. Next up is Murray on center court! Playing a German, Hass, who I actually also quite like. I wish I could see some of the more random matches and be switching back and forth, but since we don't have cable it's all BBC1 and 2 and no red button. Too bad I didn't go today, but it just didn't work out.

All in all it's a great sporting weekend because the final for Euro08 is on Sun night. It's Spain/Germany, which eh, but I'm still hoping to go somewhere and watch it with someone. Probably Phil and A&A.

I'm having a lazy weekend, which is nice after the crazy office moving week I've had. Now we've pretty much got my office and my boss's office set up, as well as the conference room re-organised, so that's good. I'm still trying to make him get rid of more stuff though; we have too much crap lying around the office. Also, was ready to kill him on Friday as I tried to move and set up the computers. (He's not so computery.) I was ready to hurt him by the end of it, especially as he stood over my shoulder as I tried to set up the wireless internet, trying to tell me what to do. Finally I lost patience and told him he should do it. Fifteen minutes later he was back in my office saying he ran out of time and would I just set it up for him. Riiiiiight.

So yes, lazy weekend, mostly consisting of Wimbledon and Dr Who. I've just found out that Jessie (new flatmate) not only has the entire new series on DVD, but also quite a few old ones. So we spent last night watching a bunch of those, and have plans to continue. We watched Robots of Death (Baker/Leela), Carnival of Monsters (Pertwee/Jo Grant) and Hand of Fear (Baker/SJS). Good times. It also solves my "what shall I watch next" problem, because I am now re-watching New Who from the beginning. I wonder if I can finish by the time she leaves? Also, tonight is NEW WHO!!! Woot! [livejournal.com profile] iamseb is coming over and he and Jessie and I are making a night of it. Less then 3 hours and counting!

And Murray took the first set!

So this morning I woke up with Britney Spear's "Piece of Me" in my head. It was one of the songs on our party-mix. (Don't judge! The mix encompassed many genres.) We used my ipod for the party, and since I haven't quite gotten around to reorganising my music since I got a new one, we just erased everything and put the mix on there. So right now my ipod is totally unfamiliar to me. Very strange. So, anyways, I put on "piece of me" when I got on the tube, and right after it "lucky" came on (there are only 4 Brit songs on there out of almost 800) and it really made me sad. Look at the contrast between those two songs, which really deal with the same topic (celebrity) - I mean neither of them are necessarily positive, but "lucky" is more of a story that's pointing out that she needs real life too, and "piece" is a diatribe against all those who presecute her. They are saying similar things, but there's so much more anger in the later song. Sad.

And so. Real life instead of Britney songs? Um...

For your sanity and friends pages I just cut the whole thing )

And now back to work. Some guy came in today who needs 2003-2007 filed. I'm almost done - one year to go! - so better get back to it.

So it's all about the transport stories today. I was writing this entry in my head during my commute to work this morning, and I kept thinking of more and more things to report, all of which seemed to be in some way connected to London transport or things I had seen while on it. Weird. Or perhaps, as Aleks told [livejournal.com profile] basilm and I when we were in Athens, we are just unable to stop thinking or talking about the London transport system? She said it was boring...here's hoping you don't agree!

As a teaser, if you click through then I'll explain this picture: )

p.s. [livejournal.com profile] filo77 if you're out there, I'm so sad that you appeared not to see the picture I posted just for you a few entries back. Go look! Caaaaaaake.

So evidently the Superbowl is today.  This is seriously weird, because I didn't even know that until I was talking to my brother on Skype and he mentioned it in passing.  He lives in Atlanta.  He said that his friends were having a Superbowl party and that he and his flatmate were going to go for the pre-party but leave before the game started.  My bro doesn't really do that kind of football.  He's strictly a soccer kind of football guy.  Thank goodness.  ANYWAY.  So Trev mentioned this and I was all "wait?!  the superbowl is this weekend?  wow, I can't believe I didn't know".  I was just really impressed that it had almost completely escaped my knowledge.  I mean I was this close to the Superbowl happening and me not even being aware of it until after the fact.  That's just kind of cool, that it was so below my radar.  I tried to explain this to Trev but he didn't really get what the big deal was.  Probably just another example of me being weird.  And honestly, I probably would have seen something on my flist about it today or even on the BBC, but still.  Nice for something I consider completely unimportant to have no bearing on my actual life.

Something NOT below my radar is the upcoming election.  Suddenly having a whole lot of conversations with people about who I will vote for.  [profile] basilm and I are going this week to the "Democrats abroad" primary to vote from overseas, so that's pretty exciting.  It's not a way I have done it before.  And I am registered in Texas, so it's nice to know that for once a vote I make will go somewhere.  I also need to get myself properly registered for UK elections; that kind of went to the wayside.

What else?  We had one person come to see the flat today but she said the room was too small so no go there.  Two other people were supposed to come and didn't.  One called but the other just didn't show up.  And she was the first of the day, so I actually got up and got dressed and then waited around to no avail.  What a pain in the ass.  Wouldn't it at least be polite to call?  Hello rude.  It's annoying because I actually canceled plans today in order to be home for this.  I might as well have gone out.  Hopefully the people coming on Monday night will be better.
