And now a TV update on my “American shows”. I meant to post this days ago, but at least I’m still ahead (just barely) of the new episodes airing.

GILMORE GIRLS 7.20

1. One word to sum up your feelings on the episode:

2. Favorite thing (character/line/moment/scene) of the episode:
The dream – it sounds silly to name that, but I miss Chilton, and I loved the return of worriedaboutschool!Rory. I also loved Lorelai’s discussion with Luke about how “Rory always gets what Rory wants” and how she was going to have to deal with the rejection.
3. Least favorite thing (character/line/moment/scene) of the episode:
Logan asking to marry Rory.
4. Anything in this episode that seemed good in theory, but didn't come across quite as well in on-screen execution as you hoped
I think I was okay with everything.
5. Romantic Stuff: Thoughts about Lorelai and Luke? Or Rory and Logan?
L/L – I’m glad they are back on track. The Karaoke scene was very cute, although it wasn’t exactly what I expected. (see question 7) I wonder how much they can elaborate on this relationship in only two episodes?
R/L - I hate the idea that they need to get married now. They are still so young, it seems ridiculous for them to get to that point so fast. We already have a married Lane, we need a Rory now too? What ever happened to people who get married in their late 20’s/early 30’s? Hardly anyone I know from Uni is married now, or they are just starting to. I was okay with the “factoring in” before, I felt that was the right level to be at.
6. How would you rank this with other season 7 episodes?
Maybe 2nd best?
7. So, how did you feel about the Lorelai's song "dedication" to Luke? Did it come across onscreen how you thought it would in your head? Did you love it? Like it? Hate it? Cry during it?
It’s funny, but this scene wasn’t what I thought it was going to be (it was better). From all the squeeing on the boards, I thought she was going to actually come out and say “I dedicate this song to Luke” or “for Luke” or whatever. So I was really glad to see that it was just by chance of him walking in and her singing that song that they had a moment. I thought it was a lot more ambiguous than I had expected. I mean obviously they both connected over the song, but it wasn’t as if Lorelai meant to do that, it was just their feelings coming to the surface. And I loved SP looking down and then up again. So I thought that was all well done.

HEROES 1.20
The only thing I wanted to add to my earlier squeeing about Heroes is on the subject of Sylar!Nathan. I didn’t see it coming, I have to admit that. However, in thinking it through, part of the reason was that Mohinder was in on it too. I have an even harder time imagining him being involved in genocide then Nathan. And yet the writers evidently didn’t feel that way. Is it because he isn’t a hero and Nathan is?
Also, Future!Peter and Future!Niki? I’m okay with it; it makes sense to me. I thought they worked together and I could see them coming to each other at the end of that destruction and panic. Both of them are inherently gentle people who love their families above all. I see that being a connection for them. Particularly if those families were taken away from them (Niki) or became distant (Peter). And they are both incredibly hot, so they have that in common, right?!

VERONICA MARS 3.16
I just don’t understand the general backlash against this show right now. I guess it’s just a case of putting something up on a pedestal and then the inevitable backslide. I am still enjoying it. I don’t think it enthralls me like it did the first season, but I still want to watch it. I did put off getting to the beginning of the 3rd season, but once I started procuring the episodes, I went straight through them. I really enjoyed (ok, not the right word!) the rape storyline, despite certain obvious (see TWoP recaps if you need it spelled out) flaws. I don’t have a problem with the new format of splitting the season into several mysteries. I think it is obvious that the show was stretched thin last season with the bus crash thing. I thought that was a weaker mystery then the ones we have had this season, and I also think that they have done a better job this season at making sure Veronica is emotionally involved with the mysteries, which was the most positive aspect of the first season. Lily’s death was the most important thing to Veronica at that time, and that is pretty hard to match with any other mystery. So I can see what the writers are struggling with and I’m okay with where they are taking it.
That said, I do have some issues. I’m sick of Veronica and Logan. I don’t appreciate the huge focus on them and their romance to the sidelining of other secondary characters like Mac, Weevil and Wallace. Give the boys a storyline already! Mac has always been my favorite, and I’m glad she’s a regular and they are using her more – I love the focus on her and V’s friendship. She was absent for a bit but they seem to be bringing her in. I know that they only have these people for a limited number of eps and I appreciate that, but as so many others have said, they don’t use them to their full potential.
Lastly, the Piz. Now I love Piz – or more specifically I love Chris Lowell. However, I just do not see him and Veronica together. She’s just a bit too damaged for him and he’s too innocent. But, I don’t know, maybe he can make her whole or whatever! I'm probably simplifying it. Anyhow, it was pretty inevitable that they would hook them up at least for a bit. I just can’t help being worried that she’ll hurt him. In fact, I can guarantee it. And that makes me smad.
