So many things to tell, so little time!

I have a ton of new icons - I am actually at my icon limit right now, which never happens because I like the feeling of space. But I'm sure some of those will fail out at some point. Part of the great influx was a request batch by [livejournal.com profile] visualthinker11 which included the Nimbus one above. How freaking cute is my cat? Seriously! I forsee a lot of use out of this one.

I had a super busy weekend, or at least it felt like that at the time, although now that I try to think it doesn't seem like it. It was our first May bank holiday. (OMG and I'm taking this Monday off too, plus we have another at the end of the month. Oh the decadence!) I didn't have anything really planned though, except room cleaning. Friday was unexciting, I came home with plans but then fell asleep around 9PM - shocking! :) But that was good, because Sat I went out to meet up with some friends of friends (long story) and ended up staying out until 6AM.

We went dancing, which I am okay with as an occasional activity but not an always one. It was fun, but I think I could have left around 3AM and still been perfectly happy. People I was with were hooking up and disappearing and all that, which is not always fun. IDK, it's not so much that I feel too old for all that, it's just that it somewhat makes me uncomfortable. I can't get to that level of inhibition, and I kinda hate the thing where random people dance up on you who you don't even know. It just feels so sleazy to me. Plus, the big main room (we were at Heaven, if you know it) was all techno, which I am not super fond of. The music in the other room was better, but really I'd rather go to a concert, or at least somewhere that plays Indie or Britpop or cheesy 80's pop or whatever. Basically I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Heh. This entire paragraph makes me sound like a grumpy old woman! But I was fine from about 9PM-3AM, after that I was done. If I had been playing cards, or just hanging out chatting, I probably would have been fine until 6AM. But dancing at a club I guess I have more of a time limit on. Or, IDK, if the music was more to my taste, or I hadn't felt pressured to dance alone, or I also think part of the problem was that the focus was on hooking up, or finding people, or whatever. ANd I have to say that is NOT how I want to find someone. Meh, whatever. Moving on. Sorry for the overload!

So Sunday/Monday. Um, Sunday Kaite and I watched hours and hours of Joan of Arcadia. And I'm sure more stuff happened. But I can't think of it now. Monday (thank goodness) I finally got some work done. I bought these shelves at Ikea because my room has been insane for ages now, and I need a place to organise. So I spent most of Monday sorting through the six boxes/suitcases that I hadn't unpacked since we moved in, um, 8 months ago (true) and then having Seb help me make my shelf so I could start to fill it. And then while I was at it, I decided to change my room around. I have a lot more space now, although my wardrobe is slightly harder to get into. But so far it's working for me. Now all I need is to put pics on the walls!

The shelf is not crooked, the picture is. And it came red like that. Oh and that yellow pages is not a yellow pages, it's a clock my friend made out of one.

Bed plus bonus cat. I hate those curtains. My parents brought my sewing machine with them last time they came, so the next order of business is to make some red curtains. You can see one of the picture frames I need to fill propped up against the wall here.

Those shelves aren't filled right yet, nor have the white plastic containers been gone through, but it's still an improvement. So yeah, yay for actual productivity! Not much else at the moment. I have a long post half-done, but it's taking me a while, so not yet.

In the best news ever, we are going to (box) karaoke tonight for the first time in ages. There has been massive squeeage about this in our house ever I booked the slot. We do love our karaoke. And it's a group of eight, so it should be a very enthusiastic time. Rach and Seb and I had a random flatmates dinner out last night, and as we walked back from Muswell Hill we (well, mostly Rach and I) sang any song we could think of, quite loudly, in preparation. I'm sure people thought we were drunk, but nope, we were just us. We were mostly silenced when, as we were belting out "part of your world" from the Little Mermaid, a schoolgirl went by us with a supercilious look. Mass giggling on our part, but it did send the singing down a notch. Too bad Lucky Voice doesn't really have any Disney songs though. Or musicals! What's karaoke without lots of musicals? Silly people.

I'll sing one for you all.

Sing one for me! :D

I love that tall photo frame - I need something like that for my many many photos lol. I'm actually quite excited that in this room I have now, there are 2 existing hooks on the wall, and I'm hoping the landlady would let me put two or three up on the opposite wall too (which is very blank right now).

And as for the big paragraph about the night out - me too. I'm not much one for clubbing and I used to dip out early when we went out in Italy. I'd always stay too sober and get bored. Plus Italy used to switch to house techno music around 1am and I hated it.

So I hear you on that one!

Helen

I have two of that tall frame - I bought them ages ago and just haven't filled them yet. I also have a multi frame that I made which I plan to blog about at some point. I just have a hard time choosing which pictures. I suck at narrowing it down!

Nice pics! Your dvd remote control looks like my old one. it was a matshita from Dixons. how (or should I ask why?) would anyone make a clock out of a yellow pages??

karaoke sounds like fun! I've always wanted to go to one of those places but can never convince anyone to go with me.

OMG you must come to karaoke with us next time! We are always looking for people to go, and so far we haven't had anyone not have fun. It's expensive, but it's worth it as a once in a while thing. This is the place we go.

My friend who made the clock is a graphic designer/artist and she's all about "found art" so she's constantly making things out of recycled materials used in weird ways. It's actually pretty cool, and I truly have no idea how she drilled through so many layers to make it. Probably an actual drill I guess.

Ooo, cool! Yeah, I'm definitely up for it! Just let me know the next time you go. :)

Aah, I see. that's quite cool! I think I just have a thing against yellow pages. I just...really hate them. LOL! Aside from that, I like interesting found art stuff. hehe.
