No this isn't my 12 of 12. Geez I need to do that. I have the pics, I'm just not that excited about it this month.

So generally I have this google doc where I start to write my LJ entries. Sometimes I completely empty it out, and other times there are about ten unfinished entries in there that I never got around to posting. At the moment it's the latter. It's annoying - I don't know why I can't just post what I write and not worry about "completing" them properly, but that's NOT really the way my mind works. So instead I just end up printing them half-finished for my regular journal. Urgh.

I went home this weekend unexpectedly, which was a bit frustrating. My parents are in Russia for two weeks (well, were - they got back yesterday) and a lady in the village was looking after their dog and cat. Now she has looked after them for about 10 years now, so this isn't an unusual thing. But she called me on Wed totally freaking out about Zack (golden Lab) and basically convinced me that he was at death's door. (He's 14 and definitely slowing down majorly, but as far as I can tell has been doing okay.) This is more detailed then I meant it to be! )

So other than the whole hanging with the dog time, the only thing I did over the weekend was a little bit of freelance accounting and a whole lot of watching American Idol. Yeah, you read that right. I have fallen into the abyss. Seriously, I can't even defend this. I mean, not only am I watching AI, but I'm watching the season that IS ALREADY OVER. What is wrong with me?! So I'm not sure how this happened - I got linked to some clips of the concerts or something, and then I got curious about contestants (ahem...Adam) and so I wanted to see some of the early rounds to I procured them. And then I had all that time on my hands and was sufficiently interested enough to go back a few rounds, and then suddenly I was starting at the top 36 and watching the whole freaking season. THE ABYSS I TELL YOU. I'm at the top 8 or so now, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna watch the whole thing. (Oh whatever, I know I will.)

The thing about AI is that I kind of can't believe I've never watched a season before. This whole entry is LONG. This is Idol talk, and some Disney stuff. Oh and Eurovision! Click for the Eurovision! )

So yeah, American Idol woo-hoo. Who knew. Please do not judge. :)

Um, on the subject of HSM, I rewatched them recently too. Actually I've been on a serious Disney kick this couple of weeks. On [livejournal.com profile] insanityjones's reccing (hahaha - I bet you really appreciated that name check!) I watched... keeping you in suspense? )

Um yes, now that I have shown you how sad I truly am :0) I think I will stop. I'm hungry anyhow...

Oh! Bad news on the Buzzcocks front. Evidently the Beeb has retracted their offer to Noel Fielding because of some drug related stuff (which was OVER, as in he admitted to being CLEAN and they canned him, WHATEVER). Um yeah. So now not only have we lost both Bill and Simon, but we've had Noel dangled in front of us and then cruelly snatched away. WTF is that? I love Buzzcocks, and I will persevere, but this is NOT ON.

Double Oh! Vote for fabulous women! It's on the top 8 now, and actually most of the people I liked are now gone. Buffy's still hanging in there though. And two Firefly gals! VOOOOOOTE HEEEEERRRE!!

Seacrest out.

Just dropping in for a mini movie review.

I just finished watching High School Musical 2 (total guilty pleasure viewing!) and it was pretty cute, although not as good as the original.  Of course when I finished the first one I was like "oh that was pretty cute"; it wasn't until a week later, when I had listened to it like crazy on my ipod and then re-watched it, that I was all "oh, it's this generation's Grease, it's awesome!" so let's give this one a week or so and then we'll see.

I think this second one made me think a lot more of Dirty Dancing, and I wonder if that was intentional.  I mean if they are trying to give nods to old "classic" musicals then it's pretty obvious the first one relates to Grease.  It's set at a HS, a new girl comes in to the school and starts to almost-date a guy from another clique, which leads to fighting between the cliques and them not being sure if they should be together, only to culminate in a final dance scene where everyone is a big happy group.  And this new one is totally Dirty Dancing.  It's got the summer country club, fighting between guests and staff, people almost getting fired through sabotage because they are dating someone a guest is interested in, and a big talent show at the end that ends with the staff coming from the back of the room and dancing up to join the show.

The only other comment I have is that after watching it I really think that Kelsi doesn't get enough credit.  I mean I'm glad they were happy that Ryan put the show together and all, but Kelsi wrote all those songs.  She's like 17 and technically (between the two movies) she's had like 10 hits.  She's totally a genius (pop) composer.  Girl needs an album writing deal!  :)

p.s. I switched out a few userpics.  There are so many others I want to use - I need a bigger account!  See this pretty (shiny) Kaylee one?
